Producing these seals from Viton has proven to be very difficult. Because of the design of the part, which is in effect a closed mould, the back edge of the seal suffers from tear as it leaves the mould. Fortunately the critical region of this part is the two rings which perform like two o-rings when fitted. They have emerged unscathed and are a firm fit on both the inner tube and the carburettor body. |
Here the two seals are shown back to back assembled on the brass tube. The back of the seal is not a critical location and so the poor finish is of no consequence. We will continue to explore possible methods to improve the finish of this part. Lubricate with silicon spray or grease (not gasket cement) prior to fitting as these seals are quite firm. |
